GARY WRAY: Once a Culliton

Next up on our “Once a Warrior” is goaltender Gary Wray. You may recognize Gary not only from being a puck stopper at the Allman arena, but from working at the same historic arena for the @cityofstratford

GARY WRAY, Stratford Cullitons #1
1985-1986, 1986-1987

85/86 team, I remember thinking we were going to be a tough team to beat with 3 x 50 goal scorer centremen in Warren Bullock, Nelson Emerson and Shawn Heaphy. All the visiting teams hated to come play at the Allman Arena on a Friday night as we always had big crowds, fans were loud and that year and we went for 56-4-1 enroute to winning the Sutherland Cup.

My favourite time playing for the Culliton’s was playing the Streetsville Derby’s in the finals. Lineups for advanced tickets went all the way up Morenz Drive to almost Ontario St. The Allman was standing room only and the energy was electric!! The Derby’s had fought their way to the finals against us and we beat them up physically on the ice and on the scoreboard! Swept them 4 straight!
